NEWS RELEASE – ROTARY CLUB OF WESTON ANNUAL GOLF CLASSIC

WESTON FL (February 25, 2008) – Everyone is a winner when it comes to the Annual Golf Classic sponsored by the Rotary Club of Weston.  Area students will win as hundreds of local golfers help raise over a hundred thousand dollars in scholarships by playing in the tournament on Monday, April 28th.  When they tee-off at 8:00am at the Weston Hills Country Club they will be part of the 21st annual Rotary golf event which has raised approximately one million dollars in scholarships for students at Cypress Bay and Western High Schools.

Local sponsors of the Golf Classic will also win big.  Through their commitment to recognize and reward deserving high school students they will also be recognized and rewarded through this unique way of reaching their advertising market.  Over fifty local sponsors, from large corporations to local businesses, to individuals, make this event possible.  Sponsorship packages range from $250 to $5000 – many including a golf foursome - and are available by contacting sponsorship chairs Michael Freedland or Anthony Russo at (954)467-6400 or members of the Weston Rotary Club.

Every participating golfer is also a winner.  Participants will enjoy the “Players Course” and the “Tour Course” at the prestigious Weston Hills Country Club.  Golf packages include green fees, golf cart, team photo, valet parking, driving range, breakfast, on course beverages, awards banquet, golf shirt and other “goodies”.   A “Hole-in-One” prize of a brand new Mercedes Benz has been donated by Mercedes of Pembroke Pines along with a $25,000 bonus to the scholarships for the hole in one.  Participants also have the opportunity to win a variety of other great prizes. Every golfer will be given a $25 raffle ticket toward a fun “Wheelbarrow of Spirits” and a free pair of PGA sunglasses compliments of Ken Ruiz of Gusto Enterprises.  The entry fee for the tournament is $375.00 which helps build the scholarship fund.

More winners will gather for a cocktail reception sponsored by Northern Trust Bank on Wednesday, April 23rd from 6pm –9pm.  The evening will include a $10,000 “draw-down” for the scholarship fund with a limited number of tickets available for $100 each.  Tickets are available from any Weston Rotary Club member.
