WESTON ROTARY CLUB HOLDS ANNUAL SCHOLASTIC AWARDS EVENT
27 Graduating Seniors at Western High Receive Scholarships
Weston, Florida – May 25, 2000 – The Rotary Club of Weston held its annual Scholastic Awards Event to honor 27graduating seniors at Western High School who have been recognized throughout the year for maintaining high standards of excellence both academically and in extracurricular activities.
“Each year the Rotary Club of Weston holds its annual golf tournament to raise funds for seniors who receive $500 each to go toward their college education,” said Linda Rouse, Chair of the club’s scholarship committee and owner of Rouse Eyecare in Sunrise. “Realizing that these young men and women are faced with numerous financial hurdles throughout college, the Rotary Club of Weston is committed to assisting and supporting our community’s youth to achieve all their future aspirations.”

“Western High School’s partnership with The Rotary Club of Western coincides with our ongoing commitment to offering the highest quality of education for all our students,” said John Congemi, Vice Principal at Western High School and liaison with the Weston Rotary’s Student of the Month Program. “Through this program and numerous other programs targeting our youth, we are establishing a lasting relationship between the leaders of tomorrow and our local community.”
"These young men and women truly epitomize character. Character is what you do when nobody else is watching," said Francis Bolden, principal of Western High School. "This is their reward for all the hard work and dedication they've completed when nobody else was watching."
The Rotary Club of Weston is part of an international service organization consisting of business and professional leaders dedicated to performing humanitarian projects and fostering high ethical standards in virtually every business profession. The Weston Club has more than 40 members who live and work throughout the area.
