FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE LAW OFFICES OF KRATHEN, FREEDLAND & ROBERTS REPAY COMMUNITY AS TITLE SPONSOR OF THIRD ANNUAL HOLIDAY RUN

Weston, Florida – November 1, 2000 -- Some companies play lip service when referring to community involvement and dedication. As title sponsor of The Third Annual WestonRotary Holiday Run, The Law Offices of Krathen, Freedland & Roberts can feel secure in its commitment to the city of Weston.

“As one of Weston’s newest tenets and as long-time residents of this great city, the partners and I are extremely pleased to collaborate with The Rotary Club of Weston as the title sponsor of this year’s Holiday Run,” said David Krathen, Partner of Krathen, Freedland and Roberts. “It was an easy choice for us to make in demonstrating to the residents of Weston our commitment to this worthwhile event."

The proceeds of the Holiday Run will benefit three organizations -- The Dan Marino Children's Center, The Broward Sheriff's Office and Rotary Foundation. Based on last year’s numbers, approximately 1,000 runners are expected to participate in either the 5K Run or the 13-mile half marathon.

The event, which is scheduled for Sunday, December 10, 2000, is set to begin at 7:00 a.m. at Weston's new park. Split Second Timing will organize the operation of each event.

“Last year, The Rotary Club of Weston’s Holiday Run was a class act that generated close to $70,000,” said Christopher Malter, Co-Chairman of this year’s Holiday Run. “We’re hoping to top $100,000, and with Krathen, Freedland & Roberts' very generous contribution of $10,000, we plan to reach this goal.”

“We’re especially pleased to know that a great percentage of the proceeds of this year’s event will benefit The Dan Marino Children's Center, a premiere neurodevelopment facility dedicated to helping children," said Mr. Krathen.

The significance of this event is twofold: First, to provide a venue for runners to compete with others, as well as prepare for the Disney Marathon in late December. Secondly, to offer residents and participants a fun-filled day of fellowship and a sense of hometown community. The weather will be perfect, and there will be a full agenda of activities planned for the entire family throughout the day.

The event will begin at Weston’s new park located on South Post Road. A variety of food and drinks will be available to all participants. Each route will allow participants an opportunity to view Weston’s beautifully manicured trees and pristine landscape. Awards will be distributed, and all participants will receive a medal recognizing their efforts in this event.

“The sponsors are the real force behind this event,” said Christopher Malter. “For example, as title sponsor of our Jazz Pancake Breakfast that will take place during the run, Adelphia Business Solutions has donated $5,000 to this great cause. Without their commitment to Weston and their involvement in this event, the recipients would not be able move forward in reaching their goals.”

"We are delighted to be a sponsor once again this year for The Holiday Run, said Arun Tarneja, General Manager of Adelphia Business Solutions, a integrated communications provider of local, long distance, voice, data and messaging services. "As a Weston-based company, Adelphia is committed to adhering to the community needs of this great city."

Weston's Dan Marino Children's Center is a facility for the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of children with special needs. The Center is a not-for-profit entity that coordinates services and specific programs for children with neurodevelopment disorders.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is dedicated to promoting safety for our children throughout our community. Proceeds of this year's event will support the BSI's Helmut Safety Drive.

Rotary Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation that supports the efforts of Rotary International to achieve world understanding and peace through global humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange programs. One of its key programs is Polio Plus, which seeks to eradicate the polio virus from the world by the year 2002.

“I urge all Weston residents and local businesses to rally together and seize this opportunity to become part of The Krathen, Freedland, Roberts Third Annual Weston Rotary Holiday Run,” said Christopher Malter. “With your help in this community-wide holiday event, we can truly give Weston a gift to last for generations.”

If you or your corporation would like to join The Rotary Club of Weston and The Law Offices of Krathen, Freedland, & Roberts in giving something back to the community, please call (954) 475-1284 for more details on sponsorship.
